Men's Journal names Crazy Creek AirLounger "Best Lightweight Camp Chair"

Men's Journal awarded the Crazy Creek AirLounger "Best Lightweight Camp Chair" in its best camp chairs roundup as part of its 2026 Outdoor Awards. This roundup put camp chairs across categories, like ultralight backpacking stools, packable beach chairs, and heavy-duty car camping thrones, through real backcountry testing.

The AirLounger earned its spot on this list by delivering comfort and versatility without the weight. This chair rolls to 3-inches in diameter (or less) and weighs just 32 ounces.

The AirLounger works in four distinct modes. In Chair Mode, two layers of air cushion support your seat. Unfold the lounge flap, and it stretches out to cushion your legs too. The third panel turns into a pillow for any time you want to lie down outside, or fully extend it into Sleeper Mode and it becomes a 50-inch-long sleeping pad ready for overnight adventures.

For this test, the ripstop nylon and TPR-welded lounger held up to uneven ground and dog paws over three months of testing, while carbon-reinforced fiberglass support stays kept the seat structured even when fully reclined.

Inflation is refreshingly simple with no lightheadedness required. A one-way valve takes five breaths or less to inflate the main chair, with three more breaths for the lounge extension. When it's time to pack up, pull the valve cover to release the air completely so the whole chair rolls down into a compact 3-inch-diameter bundle that tucks easily into a backpack.

For campers who refuse to sacrifice comfort, the Crazy Creek Air Series is the ideal choice.
